Innovation and wine aren’t exactly two things which most of us think go together.  Despite Napa Valley’s placement almost directly to the innovation center of the world (Silicon Valley) wine is still mostly thought of as past time of old, rich, snotty white men.

According to our wine of the month club membership and the information we receive from it, things are changing.  Winemakers are getting into decision making roles at younger and younger ages while vineyards and vineyard owners are more and more willing to experiment with different plantings and even grape types.

I’m willing to bet that if you look at the wine industry 50 years from now, your grandparents wouldn’t recognize it.
